"Are you humble? Do you even want to be humble? The very idea of humility is a bit problematic in our culture of self-reliance: It’s too often associated with false humility............."

Junior Church Programme

Summer Term 2010

Children
Welcome back! We look forward to seeing you on 25th April at 10.00am for the service that starts our new term. During the term there will be lots of different activities, and we think you will enjoy them. We shall be delighted if you bring your friends too.

Parents
Please note the dates in your diary, and encourage your children to come. Most Sundays the children will hear about the same bible passages that you hear in church. You will be able to talk about the stories and messages together afterwards. Let the children share with you what they have done in Junior Church.
On the Sunday when there is an All Age Mass there is no Junior Church: the children are encouraged to come into church for the whole service, which has a special emphasis for them.

Newcomers
We are delighted to welcome new children aged between 3½ and 11. There are two groups: Discoverers, aged 3 to 6, and Explorers, aged 7 to 11. Junior Church starts in the Church at 9.55am on Sunday. After the first hymn and prayer, Discoverers and Explorers go to the church hall. The children enjoy their own activities, teaching and music until about 10.40am. They join the main congregation for the Peace, Eucharistic Prayer and Communion (or a blessing), and then return to the hall for final activities and prayers. Parents join them in the hall at the end of the main service, about 11.15am.

Children aged six and over, if they and their parents wish it, are admitted to Holy Communion after a simple course of preparation.

Programme

This term, Junior Church will be learning about the important Old Testament character, Moses.

Helpers: please swop with someone else if you find you can’t make one of your weekends, and please liaise with the leader in advance of the session to work out what you will do on the day.

A Prayer for our Junior Church

Father, be with us in our work with the children of St Peter's. Help us to show them your love, and to teach them the Good News of your Son Jesus Christ. In all we do with them, help us to care for them as Jesus would. We ask this in his name. Amen.
