Parishioners go to Fulham Palace |
On Saturday 22nd September a large group from St Peter's visited Fulham Palace . The estate was owned by the Bishops of London for over 1,300 years from at least the Eleventh Century until it was vacated in 1975. The twenty seven visitors were provided with an excellent 90-minute guided tour of the red and purple brick 16 th Century building and gardens, which was followed by lunch.

(Helen Powell, Alison McAllister and Val Stephens in the entry courtyard
Michael Tiley, who made copious notes throughout the visit, said "it was excellent." David Sladen described it as "an oasis of peace" and also said that lunch was just about right, adding "Marlene and I never eat very much at lunchtime." Sheila Clarke, who had previously been to the Palace in 1953 as a member of the Mothers' Union to provide tea to the wives of thirty visiting Bishops, said the visit "was wonderful."
