St Peter's original name Simon comes from the Hebrew language meaning hearkening and listening. He was the brother of the Apostle Andrew.
According to the gospels (Mark, Luke, John), Jesus renamed him Petros (meaning rock).
He was a Galilean fisherman and one of the twelve disciples of Jesus.
The Liturgy of the Hours records June 29 , AD 69 as his date of death.
St Peter's, Ealing was originally called St Andrews, but it was changed to prevent confusion with the nearby Methodist St Andrews. |

Our Patronal Festival was celebrated on the evening of Sunday 28th June with a Solemn Mass for the Feast of St Peter the Apostle. It is always a very special occasion when many past members and friends of the church make the effort to come along and swell the congregation. We were honoured this year by the presence of the Mayor of Ealing, Barbara Yerolemou, and her consort.

The Revd Keith Stephenson preached a sermon based on the example of St Peter
and Allison McAllister provided appropriate prayers.
The flower team, headed by Jane Campbell, again excelled themselves with a marvellous display of floral arrangements around the church.
The Mass setting was the 'Little Organ Mass' by Franz Josef Haydn and the choir, with over a dozen voices, was led by our Director of Music, Dale Wills. During communion the anthem was Haydn's 'The Heavens are telling,' which was sung with gusto.
We were delighted to welcome the Vicar of St Barnabas, The Revd David Deboys to our festival. We also welcomed back some of our old friends: Derek Sadd, Ginny & Oliver Thiebaud, Anita Fookes to name but a few.
In traditional St Peter's style there was a lively party in the Church Hall after the service with generous contributions of food and drink provided by members of the congregation.
